Imperial Black

Imperial Black is an exclusive, fully oxidised black tea with long, elegantly twisted leaves from the renowned Jun Chiyabari estate in Nepal. The production of this tea is carefully crafted, and the leaf roasting process has been developed to bring out a subtle caramelisation, creating a unique flavour profile. The result is a full-bodied tea, where notes of cocoa and malt combine with soft hints of caramel. This flavourful combination provides a rich and well-balanced experience, rounded off with a smooth, clean finish.
Jun Chiyabari, located in an area known for its high altitude and mild, mountainous climate, creates optimal conditions for producing high-quality teas. The farm practices sustainable agriculture and works without chemicals, contributing to both the quality of the tea and the long-term environmental health of the area. This eco-friendly farming method means that the tea can grow at its natural rate, helping the plants to benefit from the nutrient-rich soil and natural conditions of the region.
With its unique flavour profile, Imperial Black is a tea that not only appeals to the taste buds, but also expresses the farm's philosophy of sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. It is a tea that offers a refined balance of richness and elegance, reflecting the care taken at every stage of its production. Jun Chiyabari is run entirely according to the principles of biodiversity and the garden holds international certificates for its cultivation. However, we choose to certify our consignments selectively based on time and cost. This particular tea is an example of a microbatch we chose to import without going through the formal certification process for the shipment. For us, the actual craftsmanship and purity of the farm is more important than the formal label.
