Organic Matcha
119kr
Matcha is an exclusive green tea made from tencha leaves - a specially selected tea leaf that, like Gyokuro, is grown under shade for some time before harvesting. This shading intensifies both the flavour and the nutritional content by raising the chlorophyll level in the leaves, giving matcha its deep green colour and characteristic umami-rich flavour. While many products on the market today are marketed as matcha, they often consist of ground sencha. Genuine matcha, like our Organic Matcha, however, are always made from tencha leaves, which provide a completely different level of flavour and quality.
The Organic Matcha is an organic, carefully cultivated matcha with a rich, smooth and balanced flavour profile. It offers a harmonious combination of umami and greenness and a subtle sweetness. The smooth texture, deep green colour and thick, soft foam that forms when whisked create a sensory experience that highlights the authentic, rich character of a high-quality matcha. Perfect for both ceremonial use and everyday enjoyment, this organic matcha delivers a rich experience.
PREPARATION
Preparation of Usucha
This is the classic cup of matcha with a beautiful light green foam. The result is light, airy and refreshing.
- Dosage: Use approx. 2 g (2 traditional bamboo scoops), chashaku).
- Water volume: Add 60–100 ml of water.
- Temperature: 70–80°C.
- Technology: Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chase) in a "W" motion until a thick, fine foam forms on the surface.
Preparation of Koicha
Koicha is used in tea ceremonies and provides an extremely concentrated, sweet and rich flavour experience.
- Dosage: Use approx. 4 g.
- Water volume: Add only 30–50 ml of water.
- Temperature: 70–80°C.
- Technology: Do not whisk. Use a whisk to slowly mix the powder and water together. The aim is to achieve a smooth, viscous and glossy consistency, completely free of foam.
Tips
- Strain the tea: Strain it into the bowl to avoid lumps.
- Preheat the bowl: Rinse the bowl with hot water and dry it out before use.
- Soften the whisk: Soak the whisk’s wires in warm water for a few seconds before use to make them soft and pliable.
