This organic green tea comes from Kirishima, a beautiful region in southern Japan, known for its rich soils and mild climate - perfect for growing high-quality tea. The tea is a sencha, which is one of the most popular tea varieties in Japan. Like many Japanese teas, it is steamed quickly after harvest to preserve both colour and nutrients. This tea is classified as chu-mushiwhich means it is medium steamed, a method that provides a balanced flavour profile between the lighter, more vegetal asami-mushi (lightly steamed) and the heavier, deeper fukamushi (deep-vapour).
The needle-shaped leaves, typical of sencha, produce a clear and fresh infusion with an enchanting flavour of greenery. The flavour is full-bodied, yet soft and harmonious, with subtle grassy notes and a sweetish, almost floral undertone. This gives the tea a rich, umami character that is not too intrusive, making it both refreshing and pleasant to drink throughout the day. The aftertaste is long-lasting and slightly sweet, leaving a clean and fresh feeling in the mouth.

S encha Asanoka lends itself well to multiple infusions. The second infusion is best kept short, as the leaves have already started to open and release their flavours. Subsequent infusions, on the other hand, should be left to rest a little longer to allow the flavours to deepen and the nuances to emerge. For many teas, two or three infusions with the above parameters are enough, but some keep on giving, cup after cup.
