Description

The Phoenix Mountains in northern Guangdong are home to some of the world's most unusual and exclusive teas which have a long history dating back to the Song Dynasty. Scattered along the alternating sunny and mist-swept slopes, cliffs and slopes, young and old tea bushes and tea trees grow, giving rise to teas with unique aroma and taste profiles. There are a large number of subspecies in the area and the categorization of the teas is done both on subspecies, fragrance type and sometimes on mother trees. This means that different subspecies can be used to produce a tea that belongs to a fragrance type.

Song Zhong can be translated as seeds from Song and gives us an idea of the history of tea in the area. Legend has it that tea began to be grown in the area as early as the Song Dynasty, something that may well be true even though the teas of the time were very different from today's dancong oolongs. This Tea has been handled with great care to highlight the elegant fruity tones, a soft honey sweetness and a long, aromatic aftertaste that lingers in the mouth and throat.
