Description
Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong - often called lapsang souchong - is considered by many to be the first black tea in the world and has a history that goes back at least four hundred years in time when the tea is listed in export lists from the year 1604. It is originally from Wuyi in Fujian Province but Heavy smoked versions of this tea have long been popular in the West and today the vast majority of smoked varieties are produced elsewhere in China, and are made in other subspecies than the one traditionally used in Wuyi for this type of tea.
This is a legendary tea with a unique palette and differs markedly from common lapsang teas. Our Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong is a top quality that is hand-harvested in the spring from shrubs of cultivar type Qi Zhong to then get its character through gentle drying where pine wood from the area is used, and has only a very subtle smoky tone that interacts nicely with the tea's rich, soft taste. and well-balanced elements of forest and lychee.
